Douglas C. Williamson – President and CEO
Douglas C. Williamson was elected to the board of directors as Vice Chairman of Refocus Group, Inc. on March 1, 2005 and became Refocus Group’s President and Chief Executive Officer on October 3, 2005.  Mr. Williamson has also served as the president and chief executive officer of The Williamson Group since June 2002. The Williamson Group is primarily engaged in private equity and debt investments as well as consulting and the raising of capital for companies in early stage development.  From October 1989 to June 2002, Mr. Williamson was a senior vice president and managing director of the Venture Capital Group of Bank of America Capital Investors where he was responsible for reviewing and negotiating equity investments in a number of privately held companies, including several healthcare technology and service companies.  Mr. Williamson frequently served on the board of directors of these portfolio companies.  Prior to working for Bank of America, Mr. Williamson was either president or a senior executive in various operating and financial roles with companies in the energy, real estate, and financial service industries.  Mr. Williamson holds a Master of Business Administration Degree from Columbia University.

Mark A. Cox – Chief Operating Officer and CFO
Mr. Cox was promoted to Chief Operating Officer in November 2005.  He also continues in the roles of vice president, secretary and chief financial officer which he has had since joining the predecessor to Refocus Group in July 1997.  Prior to that, Mr. Cox was director of corporate finance and assistant treasurer of FoxMeyer Health Corp., a NYSE-listed company, from 1992 to 1997. He also held the same titles at FoxMeyer Corp. from 1992 to 1997. Prior to that, he served as treasurer of Enserch Exploration, Inc., the managing general partner of Enserch Exploration Partners, Ltd., a NYSE-listed company, from 1985 to 1991; he also held various other management positions with ENSERCH Corp. from 1975 to 1985. Mr. Cox is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas.  Mr. Cox attended Western Kentucky University as an undergraduate, and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1972.  He later earned his MBA from Southern Methodist University, graduating in 1979.

David Ozinga – Vice President of Manufacturing Operations
Mr. Ozinga joined Refocus Group in 2008 after nearly 20 years of medical device manufacturing and engineering experience.  Prior to joining Refocus Group, Mr. Ozinga was Vice President of Operations with Galt Medical Corporation, overseeing all aspects of guidewire, vascular introducer, and specialty custom kit production.  From 1997 to 2004, he was Vice President of Manufacturing Operations for Imagyn Medical Technologies, Inc., where he managed facilities in Richland, Michigan and Denton, Texas, manufacturing laparoscopic instrumentation and radioactive brachytherapy sources.  He was also responsible for all supply chain management activities, developing both domestic and international contract manufacturing sources for multiple products.  Mr. Ozinga also has 10 years of experience with B. Braun Medical. both in Irvine, California and Carrolton, Texas in the development and manufacture of intravenous infusion systems, including the automation of numerous processes for disposable set production.  Mr. Ozinga received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).  He has also received the C.P.M. designation from the Institute of Supply Management.

Selene Burke, O.D. – Manager of Clinical Affairs
Dr. Burke joined Refocus Group in 2006 as Manager of Clinical Affairs.  She is a board-certified and glaucoma-certified optometrist with almost a decade of clinical experience in multi-specialty practices.  She began her optometric career as a clinician and Assistant Clinic Director for Vision Wellness and Laser Center in Richardson, TX.  She provided pre and post-operative patient care to refractive and cataract patients and prescribed a variety of specialty contact lenses.  Dr. Burke played an instrumental role in opening the practice’s first on-site laser center.  She served as the refractive consultant and took pride in providing extensive patient education by conducting numerous refractive presentations and seminars.  In 2004, Dr. Burke joined Vision Quest Eye Care and Surgery Center in Dallas, TX.  Her responsibilities included providing pre and post-operative care to refractive, cataract, glaucoma, and retinal patients.  She also served as Assistant Clinic Manager, where she provided supervision, instruction, and training to the technical staff.  Dr. Burke was also responsible for developing and implementing clinical protocols for ophthalmic examination, medical assisting, and insurance coding.    Dr. Burke received her Bachelors of Science Degree (Biology) from Rust College, her Master of Science Degree (Zoology) from Auburn University, and her Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.

Marga R. Wastalu, O.D. – Consultant - Clinical Affairs
Since February of 2009, Dr. Wastalu has served in the capacity of lead consultant on numerous clinical and regulatory issues for Refocus, having previously served as Director of Clinical Affairs for Refocus since 2003.  A board-certified optometrist with more than a decade of clinical experience, she previously was clinical director, TLC Laser Eye Center of Milwaukee, from May 2000 where she performed pre- and post-operative patient care, was responsible for implementing clinical standards of care for the center, and developed the clinic's continuing education program for affiliate doctors and staff.  From 1998 to 2000, she held posts as clinical director and associate professor, University & Hospital Clinics, at Northeastern State University's College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Responsibilities included providing clinical instruction to residents rotating through the university's ophthalmic surgical service and serving as an instructor for several post-doctoral continuing education programs affiliated with the University.  She was also responsible for the Indian Health Service's hospital-based Eye Care Clinic in cooperation with the Cherokee Nation Health Care Program. Prior to that, Dr. Wastalu was Lieutenant Commander of the U.S. Public Health Service, where she also held the positions of Chief Optometry Clinician, Chief Of Eye Care Services, and Clinical Optometrist at Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Indian Health Service, from 1992-98.

Stephen Shapu – Controller & Quality Manager
Mr. Shapu joined Refocus Group in 2003 as controller. Currently, Mr. Shapu also fulfills responsibilities with Refocus Group as Quality Control Manager, Purchasing & Receiving Manager, and Director of Human Relations. Previously, he was director of accounting at Avatex Corp. from 1990, responsible for all of the company's external reporting.  He was director of accounting for a subsidiary of ConAgra Corp. from 1986-1990 and Vice President of Financial Reporting at Western Preferred Corp. from 1974-1986. Mr. Shapu earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, with highest honors, from the University of Texas in Austin and is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas.
