The PresVIEW™ Scleral Implant (PSI) is constructed to stay firmly in place after implantation by mean of its wide foot at each end, combined with a locking insert. Each PSI is comprised of two segments – a split leg piece and a male head locking insert – which are roughly the size of a very small grain of rice when combined. PSIs are precision molded from ophthalmic PMMA polymer, a material which has been safely implanted in human eyes for various surgical procedures for over fifty years. Its small size and transparency allow it to be cosmetically and physically unobtrusive for the patient.
